Some toys I found in various markets in Datong. The first one looks really good, but it’s REALLY SMALL and also packaged with a doll.

The totoros are adorably funny colours lol.

AND YES that style truck guy is jurt a clipart construction worker head superimposed on top of a picture of bob the bulder. The body is all 3d and the head isn’t it’s hilarious.

And then blue nemo lol

SUPA SHITTY PICTURES OF THE GREAT WALLLLl~

I took these with a tablet and then ollieapparantly took a picture of the tablet screen with my camera lol. In any case they’e on the SD card, so. I also took some pictures of the road lol.

This morning I woke up at 7AM, stretched out, and considered going back to sleep. Super early. YAWN! Rolled over, sat up. Nudged the boyfriend awake. Let Pabu out of his sleeptime cage.

Gathered up my favorite breathy skirt and a tanktop, grabbed a drawstring backback and stuffed in a jacket and my wallet, a sketchboko and a pen. Ollie was finally up and at least had his pants on. He unplugged his tablet andput it in his bag. And with that, we were out of there!

We stopped by 7-11 on the way to the subway to pick up some dranks and snackies, after which we headed out to the bus hub at Dongzhimen station. We were right on time! The 916 bus was just pulling in. It was about an hour or so until we got to Qingchun Bei Kou. we got out and shared a car with two friendly polish fellows up the mountain. And finally, there it was!

The Great Wall of China. It really was super huge. Stunning in length and sheer awesomeness. We had to fight through a few hundred yards of desperate salespeople first, adn then take a lift up the wall itself. We ran through a few checkpoints and good god there are some crazy stairs. Some are really steep- each step being six inches long and two feet tall. I other places, steep in a different way, steps that were more like a layered ramp. Ollie climbed on a bunch of stuff. We took osme crappy tablet photos. One day we’ll go back with a real camera.

We picked up some souvenirs on the way out- I got a lovely ilk coat, blue, with peacocks, and he got a black dinner jacket and pants. I also got an adords pnik parasol because can.

It was only about noon so we looked around for food. We found a subway, some chinese places- and then off in abeautiful little corner- farmer’s pizza. Holy shit. We bought a whole damn pizz to split. With ham and chicken and onions and peppers. An cheddar cheese. Delicious! We ate in the shade of a huge mugo pine, the entire mountainscape andwall spread out before us and dipping into Mongolia. After that, we bopped over to a Baskin Robins and got ice cream, yum!

Finally we flagged down a car that managed to get us back to our bus stop and took the bus back home, hopping off at Xi Ba He and walking the last 6 blocks home. It’s about 3 O clock right now,  because the wall closed at 2. Super weird! Oh well. The anials are happy to see us.

YAWN.

*yawn* I’m sooooo tired blehblehbleh!

Me and Ollie went to the art market today because I needed some gesso and clay and he needed some masks for superhero class. On theway there we noticed IKEA was within wakling distance lol and walked on over. It was so cool!!! >3< We were like old people, wandering about going ‘ooh, ooohhh’ at furniture. haha, we’re such losers.

The AQI index raiting today for beijing is 466. It looks like the terminator future outside. It’s not safe to go outside.

I’m so hungry, though. :<

So I went to the Wangjing Market yesterday.

I picked up a bunch of things, DVDs among them. For reference!
I bought 11 DVDs- stragiht ISO rips, so they have menus and language options and everything!

1. Paranorman

2. Wreck it Ralph

3. Chicago

4. Les Miserables

5. Taken 2

6.The Secret Life of Arriety

7. Frankenweenie

8. Brave

9. Prometheus

10. The Hunger Games

11. Final Fantasy: Advent Children

I got all of these, in cases, for rmb100. That’s 16 USD! Golly I love dvds, heheheh!

lunabei asked: Have you been to the art district in Beijing?

I have indeed! The art market there is AMAZING!!! You can get anything! Paint, easels, sketchbooks, brushes, ink, glitter, bottles, clay, knives, copics- oh my god it is maaaaziiiiing.

Anonymous asked: I saw somewhere that you had mentioned your boyfriend came with you...Would my fiance be allowed to come live with me as long as he paid his own way? Or does he also have to work for RompNRoll? Thanks!

Well there’s nothing restricting him from entering the country lol.

The short answer is yes.

The long answer… also yes.

My boyfriend works with romp n roll and we both came via it. However it would also be fine to come on your own- though the plane tickets/visa are expensive. but if you can do it, then yes. Romp n Roll will offer you one of two options; either you can roomie up in one of the apartments they already have (that the english teachers usually share, with multiple bedrooms, most centers have two teachers) which are incredibly nice. Of course, you do have to roomie up though so I understand why you may not want that. I didn’t! But I live in beijing where there are the most teachers.

OR you could use your housing bonus and find your own apartment. RnR has a set amount you get paid- my contract had me at 8,500 rmb, about 1,250 US dollars a month. However, you technically get more than that. I believe it is 3000- it’s a housing bonus. It can only be used on monthly  rent so if your apartment is less than that you don’t get the leftovers. So you can go find an apartment somewhere else.

Apartments are fairly expensive (this is the city) but you can find plenty of nice cheap apartments if you look, and Romp n Roll WILL help you with this.

For your boyfriend, it is ASTOUNDINGLY easy to find jobs. If you can speak english as a first language- or even as a second- you can find a well paying job. If he comes on his own you can sign shorter contracts since htye don’t have to worry about all the effort of getting you here- I know people who signed 6 month, 3 month- even 1 month contracts.

But yes, he can come and live with you, even if you choose the Romp N Roll housing option.
